Introduction
The general rule of IDE is that it does not delete anything from the receiving schedule.
The exception to this rule, however, applies to links: In order to ensure that links will be properly updated, the approach in IDE is to first delete links and then rebuild them according to sending schedule.
These are the options for a receiving config/IEA for the Host System Parameter called "Link Options" (only available for P6 and Safran):
In order to ensure that a download of a small schedule into a large master schedule does not delete ALL links in the receiving schedule, you can set the condition for how links are deleted (and then rebuilt) using these 3 options:
1. Ignore update of links - no links will be affected in receiving schedule by download.
2. (default) Delete all links where both the Predecessor and Successor activities exist in the sending schedule and then Rebuild all links according to sending schedule.
3. Delete all links where the Predecessor or Successor activities exist in the sending schedule and then Rebuild all links according to sending schedule.
Note: This option should be used with care and only if your use case demands it, as it can break links for activities that fall outside the sending schedule’s activities.
Note that importing of links is currently only available for P6 and Safran. ILAP Analytics does also support receiving links, but not rebuilding them.
